Studio
Founded in 2023 by Lorenzo Donati, BUREAU/D studio seeks to create architectural projects that are able to respond to the new demands of the current time. Thinking about architecture is no longer just a matter of spatiality and materiality but of civic responsibility towards the community.
In a world where environmental changes and a rapid population growth are redefining the role and objectives of architecture, BUREAU/D wishes to give a concrete contribution to architecture and construction by designing sustainable buildings where spatial quality, energy efficiency and conscious use of materials coexist. Indeed, contemporary buildings must be able to reconfigure and reorganize themselves to respond to the plurality of demands that continuous technological, sociological and environmental innovations bring with them.
BUREAU/D is a place for experimentation, dialogue, critique and reflection where architects, engineers, builders, designers, landscape architects as well as writers, researchers and experts of other disciplines meet to work together on an alternative idea of the future that has architecture as its starting point.
Lorenzo Donati
Lorenzo studied at the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio (AAM) where he qualified as an architect with a thesis on Low Rise and High Density Housing in Barcelona with Professor Jonathan Sergison. During his studies he had the opportunity to pursue projects in the ateliers of Francisco and Manuel Aires Mateus, Martin Boesch and Esteban Bonell.
After graduation he gained professional experience working for MPH Architectes in Lausanne where he was responsible for large-scale projects. He travelled to Asia, America, and throughout Europe where he met people with whom he still collaborates in BUREAU/D today.
